Default Turbo Tax won't give me $2000 deduction for 2004

I know if I do my tax on paper I write in "Clean fuel vehicle" on line 35 of the 1040 I write in $2000- according to page 31 of the 1040 booklet

But Turbo tax has a electric vehicle section (not hybrid)
Then a clean vehicle section (which doesn't mention hybrids)
I check all the boxes I think I should in the clean vehicle section.

But my taxable income is exactly $2000 too high compared to the form1040 that I prepared by hand.
So I know I am not getting the deduction.

Help.

Default Re: Turbo Tax won't give me $2000 deduction for 2004

I got it.

I had to check ALL the boxes saying it is a clean fuel vehicle.
(I thought that only natural gas or fuel cell cars were clean fuel cars, and gas-burning cars were not.)

Then it took me to a screen to select which hybrid I bought.

Sorry to bother you.

Hey if I goofed this up I wonder how many others did also but didn't know it because they didn't also do the 1040 manually to check it against.
I'll bet the IRS is getting lots of money they shouldn't becuase of this.
I wish Turbo Tax actually just asked if you bought a hybrid.
They ask 20124578965748 othere questions.

I didn't think this was a bother at all. Although I don't qualify since I bought mine used, I'm sure other people may be looking for the same solution.

And thanks for posting a follow-up to explain the oversight!
