Thumbs down US and Canada "caved in"?

They "caved in"? Really? I think it was an engineered face-saving gambit. Absolutely nothing was accomplished at Bali thanks to the US, Canada, and Japan. The only agreement that I know of is that all parties agreed to talk about it for another two years.

However, it does give the US and Canada time to have new, less obstructionist leadership in place.

Two more years of unfettered pollution, two more years to roll up big profits in petroleum.

Keep in mind the source of that comment. The Calgary Herald supports big oil. They know which side of their bread has been buttered, and by whom.

Also keep in mind it's too late to "avoid" the consequences of too much CO2 in the atmosphere. It's already happening. We are running the experiment. All we can do now is "correct" it. That will take quite a few years, from the science I've read, even if we -all- cut our CO2 emissions to zero today.

Not to say we shouldn't bother. Just that going crazy about it is rather pointless, as we are already in the middle of the experiment to see what excess CO2 will do.
