Re: Vehicle before your hybrid
Operating vehicles (approx. year of purchase) (comments):
'76 Subaru Coupe ('81) (weird car, semi-lemon)
'73 Volvo 245 ('84) (great car)
'86 Nissan Pickup 2WD ('85 - first new vehicle) (lousy vehicle)
'90 Geo Tracker 2Dr 4WD (hardtop) ('92) (great car, ran it into the ground, where it still sits, waiting to become a fire/rescue exercise before the junkyard)
'91 Geo Tracker 2Dr 4WD (conv w/aftermarket removable hardtop) ('94?) (great car, totaled in a rollover accident, no injuries to people)
'95 Suzuki Sidekick 4Dr 4WD (hardtop) ('96) ('eh, nothing special)
'98 Chevy Tracker 2Dr 4WD (conv w/same removable hardtop) ('00) (still have, runs like a champ)
'02 Ford Escape XLT 4WD V6 ('03) (nice vehicle, still have, for sale)
'05 FEH 4WD ('05 - second new vehicle) (great!)
'06 Prius Pkg. 4 ('06 - third new vehicle) (the greatest!!)
Non-operating ("project") vehicles:
'64 VW Bug (was operating briefly)
'68 VW Bug
You'll notice that we currently have seven (7)!! of these vehicles (the 2 bugs, the '90 junker tracker, the '98 tracker, 2 escapes [V6 and FEH], and the Prius). This is getting out of hand (as some of my friends have pointed out)... Good thing we live in the country.

Re: Vehicle before your hybrid
::: 1981 Chevette -- lasted 225,000 miles!
::: 1996 Toyota Tercel -- lasted 110,000 miles.
::: 2001 Toyota Echo -- lasted 100,000 miles (all 100k happened in 11 months and killed the car).
::: 2003 HCH: Now at 95k and still going strong!
Honorable mention: 1987 Ford Ranger XLT. I drove this for work, and it bit the dust at 257k miles!

Re: Vehicle before your hybrid
Our Honda Accord Hybrid actually is replacing both a '97 Chrysler Town & Country AWD minivan (because our daughter is going off to college next fall), and my '73 BMW 2002 tii (mechanically fuel injected) car with ~387,000 miles on it!

Re: Vehicle before your hybrid
Mine:
* 1992 Toyota Corolla (my first and only car, pre-hybrid purchase. Still have, drive and love it; just not my primary vehicle anymore since purchasing a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid.)
Husband's:
* 2001 Ford F-150 Supercrew 4x4 (but he now commutes in the Corolla for gas savings about 3/4 of each week)
* 1994 Ford Ranger Splash 4x4 Exteded Cab (traded in when the A/C system went out and transmission was in process of doing same)
* 1985 Honda Accord SEi (great car; hubby sold it when he wanted to 'upgrade' to a pickup)
* 1975 Toyota Corolla Station Wagon (great car; his entire family drove it at some point or another. Great heater, but *no* A/C, so you had to not mind changing shirts when you got somewhere in the summertime. :-)
Honorable Mentions:
2005 Gary Fisher Tassajara mountain bikes -- his and hers -- love 'em!
