Default VW Toureg

I test drove one of these little numbers last week for my mom, and kinda like it. Does anyone know if they will ever come out with a green model??

They had a more green model, it was the diesel version that got decent mileage, but it cost a lot, and I don't think it is available anymore.

The gas version of the Toureg was one of the worst polluters on the roads.

I read that somewhere. The Toureg also was getting high ratings from some magazines this past year. They were testing the diesel model.

Just got back from testing the gas version. It seems to drive OK. I didn't notice any issues with the literature they gave me

Well, actually it was a V10 Turbodiesel here in the states. They offered only 5,000 of them. Not exactly efficient at 17 MPG Highway and 22 Highway; plus it can only use 5% biodiesel; 95% Petrodiesel.

Certainly it is better than the 4.2 V8, but it's still not great.

However, in South Africa, my Uncle has the 2.5 or 2.0 Turbodiesel, I forget, and it is more than peppy enough with all the low-end torque. Shame they don't offer it here. But, then again, I would NEVER get another VW/Audi after my experience with my 2000 New Beetle Turbo.

Michael

I am sure that it ranks very poorly. I assumed that the Toureg would rate at least moderate due to the newer technology available for diesel.
