<_< Aside from the proposed HOV law, does anyone know of any other particular incentive for owning a hybrid in L.A., i.e., free meter parking, etc... I know for as fact that in Hermosa Beach let's owners of natural gas cars to park free at the meters, but usually means the owners must have the Clean Air Vehicle Decal (California)....

Hi Chewbaccapits:

___Maybe not the HOV item but my last trip from San Francisco and then through the outskirts of LA. showed me why a PZEV is so important to you folks. Not necessarily a Prius II mind you but any PZEV will do wonders for your local air quality as they actually clean the air they drive through in some portions of your fair state. The $1,500 tax deduction (not tax credit) is worth a few hundred depending on your tax bracket as well.

___As for mileage and such, the Prius II is known to do pretty well in that area as well

___Good Luck

chew
I'm in L.A. too.
I've looked around the web and found nothing from the state for us.
I even called the Franchise tax board.
Nothing.

Ask your employer, maybe they offer something.

Need fewer troops to support.
Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

This might be old news but I thought I would bring up this issue again since there many more new members here...

This link is great if you want to know what incentives exist in your area, if you own a hybrid.

I receieved a moving violation the other day, so now I'm taking an on-line class to clear it up, anyways, I ran into this section on the Diamond lanes (HOV)...Why did it state this....

"Hybrid vehicles (45 mpg or better) are now permitted to use the carpool lane.Vehicle must display a special decal, issued by the DMV."

Um, when the hell did this happen>? I thought this "law" that would have taken effect at the start of '05 was dead in front of the Senate (?)...

I would supply a photo but for some reason we can't post pictures....Sup with that Jason?

Here's an incentive for you: Look up into the brown clouds and take a DEEP, DEEP BREATH.....

Actually, when I was in the Marines in 1984 I went to a Raging Waters water park which was set into a little valley somewhere in SoCal. The "smog" had settled into the park and the act of MERELY taking a deep breath caused me to cough. It was awful, and my first indication that "smog is bad bad bad news."
