Re: When Did You Get Your 1st Hybrid?
Afterthought: Maybe I should have put a choice for those that have not bought a hybrid yet.
I bought my 5-speed Insight Sept 9, 2000 for about $23K and it's paid off 81,000 miles later.

Re: When Did You Get Your 1st Hybrid?
I purchased my 2004 HCH MT in May of 2004, and paid about $20,300 including 6 percent NJ tax, registration and all the paperwork.
I got 60 month 1.9 financing and am paying it off as if it were a 36 month loan.
I have saved well over 1,000 gallons of gas over the Ford F150 I was driving.

Re: When Did You Get Your 1st Hybrid?
I pick my 2006 FEH Tomorrow morning!!! It came in EARLY! It's like waiting for Santa, I know I should go to bed but I'm just too excited! I've already picked up my book to track every drop of gas I put in and how many miles I get from them!!! My other car is a 2000 Ford ZX2 Manual which averages about 30 MPG with 84,000 miles on it and I ride her HARD. I'm keeping her as my autocross car and as a back up cause she's been paid for over two years now. I did pay MSRP on a silver AWD (couldn't get my favorite blue with the prem package & moonroof) I did choose every option available (I spend between 2-4 hours in my car before I even get to my 8+hour a day job so dang it I deserve the luxury and I earned it!) I am paying MSRP for it which goes against my bargaining and cheapskatedness (sp?) but since I refied my house and used my equity all the "interest" is tax deductible and I'll own her outright (I am writing a very big check tomorrow) I can use what I would have paid on a car payment to pay down my mortgage that much faster. Now my only question is how do I get used to driving an automatic again? I haven't driven one since high school. I will miss the control of the stick. Any other recent converts have any hints?
I can tell it's a girl 'cause she tells me where to turn.

Re: When Did You Get Your 1st Hybrid?
zx24szq,
Welcome to GreenHybrid. Paying MSRP for an Escape Hybrid is a good deal as far as I'm concerned. I've heard many stories of the additional amounts that some dealers are charging.
Is your 2-4 hours of commuting in heavy traffic (I hope not). Or do you simply have a long distance to cover?
