Hey rigger! I was going to try to pay you a visit in April, but I just found out my TDY was canceled. Guess storm ridden Keesler AFB is still unsuitable for training...

The next time I'll be in Biloxi is forecasted for sometime 2007. If you haven't PCS'd by then, perhaps I'll visit you.

The purpose of what? Burning less fuel? It's just as purposeful, since you can only drive one vehicle at a time. And no matter which one you decided to drive, you're always burning less fuel. Well, at least normatively. I could have an HAH and a FEH, and still would burn more fuel than if I had a Geo Metro.

2 people = 2 cars, I said Mine too as I wash it, I wax it, I keep gas in it, I maintain it etc.

So what happens when I go on a business trip with my car? (she can't drive a stick which is what one of the cars is too) The wife just walks to work? Take the non-existant bus? It doesn't really defeat the purpose, both are just my cars that the wife is allowed to drive one on weekends and when I'm out of town. The rest of the time I drive it, I've put 75% of the miles on it while she's done the remainder.

A lot of families had just one vehicle until 30-20 years ago, when there were two and often more people working....

I would never own 2 hybrids unless both of the drivers had long commutes.

2005 Civic Hybrid
2006 Civic Hybrid with Navigation

We love them both.

We also have a 2005 Ford Escape (non-Hybrid) we use on weekends and to cart the dog around.

Well I own two of them and my wife has no commute - she stays at home with the kid (two kids any day now).

I don't understand your reasoning for never having two hybrids except in case of two long commutes. I swap between the two, keep the milage low enough to stay in warranty for the full time of the warranty on both instead of maxing out the miles in a couple years and having another car in the garage with extreme low miles. I have found in my experience (and I have plenty as far as cars go) that time is a bigger enemy to a vehicle than miles.

What I really don't understand is why you don't have any hybrid yet. What are you waiting for?
