Well OK, but still, the Prius is 1200 lbs heavier. But you're right, it's not quite a fair comparison in that sense.

Wayne was able to pull a 100+ segment in my CVT HCH I. It realy depends on where and when you are driving them.

And to answer the original question. No doubt the HCH II will pass the prius. I'm thinking its going to top out at 50 or 51.

Having cgameprogramer not puting in any more tanks is only going to help the cause

LOL really. Actually my lifetime went from 39.4 to 38.8 (over 10k miles) because of one 900-mile trip I took with speeds between 80-88 mph. Apparently it really suffers above 80.

Apparantly

I'm interested to see how the camry holds up. Good luck with it.

PM me with some numbers when you get a tank or two under your belt. Since I am also part of www.cleanmpg.com and we are always comparing numbers and seeing how every car does under every circumstance I will find the info very useful. While your driving may be extreem for most, we realize there are others out there that drive like you do and we want to be able to give them factual information about how it performs.

I'll do that. Though I want to say, good god, that website needs to be cleaned up. I realize there's a notice to that effect, but yeah, it's messy.

I am thinking the HCHII might already have caught the Prius. People on this site seem to agree that the Prius dash reports 1-2 mpg too high, whereas the HCHII displays 1-2 mpg too low. Depending on how many report "by display", "by hand", or "by hand and display, mixed", the HCHII could already have passed, in real figures. Maybe someone could make a search in the database, find out the relations, and make an estimate.

And I too think the HCHII figures will improve further, they are improving almost every day I look, whereas the Prius figures are stable.

Thumbs up Prius watch out !

My HCH has gone pass 600 miles now. I reset my Trip A every morning coming to work.

My MPG for this morning's trip to work was 65 MPG ( 3.6 L/100km )

.

Best Tank = 54.2 mpg (Sep. 9'06)
Best Trip = 61.9 mpg

Looking at the table it looks like it should probably end up averaging well above the prius II. I wouldn't be supprised if it was low 50s on average.

While I wouldn't be surprised to see the HCHII leap-frog over the Prius this summer, we will would need to get through the winter to be 'ahead'. I say that because we are still having a good increase in the number of HCHII's being added to the database (during the warmer months). For them - there is no winter data yet!

My personal experience is that my HCHII is up from about a 42 mpg winter average to about a 47 'spring' average so far. I guess time will tell how much it really keeps going up - but just yesterday I got a 56 combined highway drive that was typically a 42-46 mpg drive in the winter!
