I have a 07 Prius and now live on a mountain. So I am looking for advice on snow/ice tires that will give me a chance of making it home from work.

I had good luck with the Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi snow tires I put on my car last winter. You can check out their various winter tires at this link:

There are other good recommendations I've seen on the forums. Try a search; maybe there's a particular brand that Prius drivers prefer.
