Excellent observation. These folks are the most dangerous lot.

I'd draw a distinction between highway positioning that may involve a bit of speed (like Ashen was talking about) and those being intentionally aggressive (and further down the line, those bent on revenge). It's the folks that dart in and out of traffic, cut people off, tailgate, etc. that get me. However I don't think the root cause is ambition/aggressive lifestyle. Think of why folks are the way Delta described - they are, at the root of it all, selfish. They look out for themselves, often at others expense. I think it's this selfishness that translates to aggressive driving. Where they need to go and how fast is more important than anyone else, and they're willing to risk the safety of others to do it. Wreckless and self-centered. It's a simple by-product of our me-centered society.

So, we've tied agression in the workplace to agression on the road to a high divorce rate.

Quite a leap, IMHO.

Some drivers on the road are not dealing with stress, some are venting hostility, some are just self-absorbed....not for sure how to sort it out, but it sure makes driving less pleasant.

But since you brought the topic up: Don't you find it a bit troublesome that today's children can't abide without television even for a 10 minute drive out to soccer practice? TV isn't meant to "keep the kids' mouths shut" as you put it.

Right... That quote was from the last stanza from "Born to Run". I'm not a big Bruce fan, but that tune is awesome for its post-apocalyptic pizzaz.

Anyone remember that AAA commercial a couple of years ago where people in the grocery store with their shopping carts were handling them like agressive drivers? It was hilarious! Tail-gaters, impatient folks making hand signs of frustration, people racing off the 'line'. They ought to continue playing that one. It made ME think.
