Question Would you buy a hybrid again?

What kind of car would you buy today? The same hybrid? another hybrid? Or a conventional car?

IMO once you have gone hybrid you can't go back. One guy traded is hybrid on like a Mustang or something but I suspect most would not go backwards.

If I were buying today I'd go Prius or TCH because my car has been discontinued. I'd buy my car again if it were available.

I would certainly buy another one as well. I'm curious, why would you not consider an HCHII?

Yeah Definitely,

I would buy another Hybrid,In fact I am planning to replace my Accord with another Hybrid either by 400H or Mariner Hybrid, but that is in mid 2007 though, lets see if we can have some more Hybrids comming at that time and will pick a better player among the team.

I'm not a big fan of the Belt and Pulley CVT Honda uses. My car is a MT.

Yes!! Depending on our needs at the time----as it is right now I would like to buy a Prius (the sky blue color I often see on the road!!) just so I can compare my HCHII....I really would like to try the Ford Escape for travelling or when I have things to haul around town.

Without a doubt.

There is a learning curve, however. Racing a hybrid can really cause a lot of problems over time (battery pack).

Of seven cars I've had it's been the best.

Today I would probably purchase a Camry Hybrid of the stock hybrids available. It doesn't drop much below HCH-I values for real-world driving, despite being a larger, faster accelerating vehicle. There's also the possibility of upgrading to a plug-in hybrid system later -- almost all of the time with my fairly short trips I'd be in electric-priority mode, so such an upgrade could pay for itself, and if done correctly, even extend the driving range of the car on long trips as well by using electric-priority accelerations, and the ability to take advantage of regenerative braking over longer hills.

Personally, I feel a car with the Camry HSD drivetrain, upgraded to include plug-in capacity and manual/custom controls on the charging/assist algorithms, transplanted in to a lighter and smaller body would be my ideal vehicle. I don't need the extra space, so dropping weight and size would directly translate into improved performance and fuel economy.

Before I answer here are my assumption.

1) I would not be trading in my current hybrid since we just purchased it.
2) the car I purchase would be replacing our oldest vehicle which is currently a 2001 Maxima.
3) Our current HiHy fits our passenger needs so our second car would not need to sit 4-5 adults.

Based on this, we have always said that our next car would most likely be a two seat convertible sports car, since our HiHy would be used for hauling stuff and people. Since they currently don't make a 2 seat sport hybrid my answer would have to be no. However we don't plan on replacing the Maxima for another 5 years. If at that time there is a sports hybrid that meets our requirements we would definitely consider it as a possibility. Of course quality and service will also fit into the equation, so it would also depend on who is manufacturing the hybrid.

I would def only ever buy a hybrid. Better for the environment. I will wait until the plug in or deisel hybrids come out.
