2005 Accord and Civic Hybrids are almost exactly like their non-hybrid counterparts, save the "hybrid" badge on the back. The Civic Hybrid also has an external antenna, whereas the regular Civics have them embedded in the rear windshield so you can't see it. (I think the reason the hybrid uses an external one is due to the battery pack in the back -- guess it causes interference or something.) The Accord Hybrid may be the same way, I'm not sure. Also the lower front air vent on the HCH is a bit different than the regular Civic's but that's almost impossible to notice, for me at least.

Basically you'd have to be very alert to catch any civic or accord hybrids since they blend in so much. It's alot easier with the 2006 mainly because of the wheels.

BUT.... How can I tell if a civic or accord that I see is a hybrid or not????

I admit it... I'm a "girl" (gasp!) and I really don't pay that much attention to other cars but I'd like to know if I see another hybrid. I've seen a few priuses but that's about it for me so far.
Hi I'm-A-Girl; say you can tell all the Hondas the same way they all have a (Hybrid) Badge on the rear of the vehicles.

Exclamation Re: Wow, what a day for Hybrid sightings

And here's another hybrid sighting. The first hybrid taxis in NYC debuted this week. Five Ford Escape hybrids, in their special orangey-yellow NYC taxi paint. Looked good. Saw one of them on the west side of Manhattan in the west teens, crusing for a fare ...

i didn't know about the antena. haha! hope i'll be noticing more now. i have seen a few civics around, the wheels are what i look for, but it's a little harder to tell if they're driving. i've seen 2 accords, both in parking lots, if i hadn't noticed the badges i'd have had no clue. anything special about the escapes? i haven't seen one of those yet. or a highlander. or the lexus. over the summer when i had a 40 mile drive to work i'd see about 2 prii a day.

The thing about HCHs and Accords that catches my eye is the lip on the edge of the trunk lid that makes it look more square-ish. I think it is much better looking than the regular Civic. About the Rx400h, the front fog lights in the bumper are round and frontward facing, unlike the Rx 330 which has foglights that wrap around the corner of the front bumper. The only thing that I've noticed about the FEH, besides the Hybrid logo, is the left-rear window seems to be in two parts. Does that have any function specific to the Hybrid?

Hi Just522 Yes the left rear window has a vent in it for the Battery. Good catch!

Over the weekend I drove to the Florida Gators vs. Vandy game in Gainesville and I saw 3 Insights (one even honked at me -- I drive an Insight too) which is my personal best for spotting Insights (I stopped counting Prius sightings because they're everywhere -- I still notice them, I just don't keep count anymore.
