The public and press think the Prius is slow. It is not. I have already surprised several drivers, including one in a new Hemi Charger (passed him on a mountain road). The best was climbing the Cocahalla out of Hope BC. Close to the toll booth, it gets quite steep, and the speed limit is 110 km/hr, so many vehicles are "topped out". I quietly passed five SUVs struggling up the hill. The drivers were not happy to see a Prius gliding by them! It would have been nice to rub it in a bit, by telling them I was burning 1/3 as much fuel as they were at the time.

Yeah, my HCH never, ever has trouble climbling hills either. Even in Pennsylvania, on the dreaded turnpike, the tach never goes above 3,500 RPM no matter how steep the grade. With the Prius' electric motor being three times as powerful as the HCH's, it probably has even less trouble.

Hope is like a candle held against the night.
