Audi, VW and Porsche to Make Hybrid Engine
Quote:
German automakers Volkswagen AG, Audi AG and Porsche AG said Monday they would work together to develop a new fuel-efficient hybrid engine for their automobiles...
Complete details of the new program weren't revealed, nor was a timeline, when the agreement was announced at the International Auto Show in Frankfurt. Audi, a part of Wolfsburg-based VW, Europe's biggest automaker, said it would take the lead in the development of the new hybrid.

Re: Audi, VW and Porsche to Make Hybrid Engine
As I recall, Volkswagen owns Audi, Porsche, and several others, so this is really only one company trying to make it sound like it is a big deal... Hmmm.

Re: Audi, VW and Porsche to Make Hybrid Engine
Porsche is fully independant of all other automakers. VW owns Audi, Seat, Bently, Bugatti, Skoda, and Lamborghini.

Re: Audi, VW and Porsche to Make Hybrid Engine
The connection is that Porsche spawned VW, I don't know what ownership they held but they are "related".

Re: Audi, VW and Porsche to Make Hybrid Engine
I think the connection is that Adolph Hitler went to Ferdinand Porsche and asked for a car for the people -- a "folks wagon." Maybe it's just an urban legend. I do know that VW made the Porsche 914, and I think that, at least historically, they've shared a factory in Stuttgart.
But whatever my love/hate relationship with Porsche used to be for the NAZI connection, I definitely decided to hate them unequivocally after they decided to come out with the Cayenne.
