Default Ford's hybrid edge

Quote:
Now, one can drive around an electric car which runs on hydrogen fuel and gives a whopping mileage of over 17 km a litre (41 miles per galon) while ensuring zero emission. No, we are not talking about just another Concept, but here is one drivable hybrid that can run on hydrogen and fuel cell in addition to gasoline, one that could get commercially launched in the near future.

Embattled American iconic auto major Ford Motor has just taken the veil off the world's first drivable electric plug-in fuel cell hybrid car that combines an onboard hydrogen fuel cell generator with lithium-ion batteries.

I sounds like it is just another 'blue sky' concept car.

It depends on your definitions:

"Concept" is typically used to show "what we think we could do IF we wanted". These vehicles are usually non-working vehicles like the GM Volt.

"Prototype" is used on actual working vehicles, used typically as proof of engineering concepts, but are typically not cost effective at this point in time (or even years).

The Ford Hybrid Edge is a real working "prototype" vehicle. On the road right now (at least last week it was in Washington DC).

I used to drive nothing but Fords.

I am hoping that new guy at Ford, Mullaly, is successful at changing the corporate culture at Ford, so that innovation and obsession with quality become the norms, rather than their recent indifference to quality, and lack of imagination and competitive drive.
