Hybrid on Ford's wishlist
Ford has been strangely coy about mixing its successful United States market hybrid technology with that of its European diesel advances. So much so that the first showing of this potential "grow it as you go" concept has been revealed behind its middle-class Mercury nameplate, a brand not known in the Ford empire for sea changes in markets or technologies.
However, Mercury's Meta One, which looks very similar to Ford's Freestyle crossover vehicle on the outside (they share the same platform) has as much new tech under its chiselled looks as any recent blue-oval offering.
Ford calls its Meta One an advanced research-vehicle concept displaying the evolution of automotive design, research and engineering with emerging safety features, and the world's first PZEV- capable diesel hybrid.
