Toyota Stages World Debut of All-New 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid at 2006 Auto Show
Quote:
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., unveiled the all-new 2007 Camry sedan and the much-anticipated Camry Hybrid at a press conference here today at the 2006 North American International Auto Show.
The Toyota Camry, the best-selling car in America four years running and for eight of the past nine years, is completely new for 2007. Refusing to take continued success for granted, Toyota engineers and designers chose to expand the very definition of Camry. In doing so, they created a new benchmark for sedans. Engineers and designers rethought every aspect of the Camry, from its chassis to its body, interior, accessories and drivetrain. The result is a world-class sedan that not only redefines global standards for comfort, performance and design, but also is available, for the first time, with Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive.

Honda is now challenged to do SOMETHING radical with the Accord! To make it an improved hybrid.

Wow even a ECO button... comfy car gets over 40 mpg I'm jealous for not ever getting one unless I hurry my *** off to school.
Now I'm just curious what that pricing will be because the hybrids were built in Kentucky. so if I had to make a guess... cheaper than the Prius!
2003 toyota prius, 55 mpg lifetime starting.

I have seen estimates of the TCH starting at $26K, but those are just guesses for now.
I'm thinking Toyota is going to sell a BATTLESHIP LOAD of these every month....

The 4 cyl LE is based at $20,375 at Edmunds. Putting the TCH at $26K would be way above that, and seeing that they want to avoid the HAH problem by keeping the TCH fairly low-end.....I think anything too high will scare people off.

Re: Toyota Stages World Debut of All-New 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid at 2006 Auto Show
Considering just the LE Camrys for a moment; i.e. cloth no Sunroof I'd expect to see prices of
ICE 4c ~$22000 ( full airbags, 6 disc/160 watt, pwr dr seat, 158 hp, 28 mpg comb )
HSD 4c ~$26000 ( full A/B+ VSC/Trac, BT, 6 disc/160 watt, pwr dr seat, 192 hp, 40 mpg comb )
ICE V6 ~ $25500 ( full A/B + VSC/Trac, BT, 6 disc/160 watt, pwr dr seat, 268 hp, 25 mpg comb ).
Which V6 do you want?

I hear the HSD version will cost less than the most expensive model, hopefully that means a reasonable price and not a bloated up version that most people won't consider.

Re: Toyota Stages World Debut of All-New 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid at 2006 Auto Sho
It definitely won't be bloated like the HAH. It won't have leather except possibly as an option; satellite navigation will be an option, not a requirement; it won't have satellite radio; etc. The HAH is a hybrid version of a $29300 car; the Camry will have a much more expensive hybrid system but the model it's based on would be around $21-22k. I do think $26k is too optimistic and it may be as high as $28k without nav, but hopefully not.
