Default Toyota turns to Hitachi for hybrid motors

Quote:
Toyota Motor Corp. has started buying electric motors for hybrid cars from Hitachi Ltd. to help meet surging demand for the fuel-efficient vehicles, a major Japanese business daily said on Monday.A rise in gasoline prices has spurred growing demand for hybrid cars -- especially in the United States -- and Toyota's own supply capacity for hybrid car parts is likely to fall short of demand in the medium- to long-term, the Nihon Keizai business daily said.

So... What the heck is a Kluger Hybrid and Harrier Hybrid? If they came out in 2005, why aren't they on the Toyota website?

This should blunt Ford's charges that Toyota is trying to corner the supply on hybrid parts.

Wonder if someone like General Electric might size the moment and try to supply hybrid parts to Ford and GM?

AshenGrey, I don't believe those are supplied to the United States.
