Warren Army center unveils hybrid vehicle with removable engine at SAE
The Warren-based National Automotive Center joined with the private sector Monday to unveil a dual-use hybrid vehicle and a removable engine at the Society of Automotive Engineers 2005 World Congress.
The National Automotive Center is a unit of the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center, commonly known as TARDEC.
The Automotive Center; Irvine, Calif.-based Quantum Fuel System Technologies Worldwide Inc.; and Camarillo, Calif.-based California Motors L.L.C. introduced the MP Hybrid — a configurable, light-duty vehicle for military and commercial use — at Cobo Center in downtown Detroit. The MP Hybrids feature diesel and electric engines.
