Another great meeting! Thanks to everyone that came. The behind the wheel Pulse and glide sessions were fun. In each case the drivers got better gas mileage than they had before. (Way to go Jan with 72.6!)
I didn't bring my camera this time so hopefully someone else (Bradlee?) will post some.

No date is set yet, but I think the next meeting will be in January. In the meantime enjoy the summer gas mileage while it lasts!

I have pictures posted on our latest Madison gathering. We had 5 2nd gen Prius, 2 Insights and 1 Lexus 400h. In all about 10 people present, with the majority being new hybrid owners.

We had a general discussion about the benefits of GPS systems and the new tax incentives for hybrid purchases. There was alot of discussion on the importance of relearning driving techniques when you purchase a hybrid vehicle. It is like any tool, it is what you do with it that will make a difference. More experienced members shared some of the basic techniques to try out and gave out several web sites to check out too for additional help.

We finished up with 4 members taking the others out to teach them the pulse and glide ( P&G ) technique on the Prius. All members now have basic training on P&G and can add that to their education on relearning how to effectively drive a hybrid.

I think the members were excited on learning these new techniques and felt supported my members that know these skills work. I thank Eric for setting this gathering up and for his follow through in expanding our membership.

Hi Bradlee:

___I am only sorry I couldn’t make it there this time around Herald News - Online Business Briefs - Braidwood U1 S/D for Pump seal repair … We just got her back online this morning in fact.

___I was happy to hear that you, Justin, and Eric were there to hold the P&G clinic. Who was the other driver? To hear that a participant nailed a 72 mpg segment would have made the meet a success all on its own! Jan, way to go! Did anyone P&G the RXh? I would be interested in hearing how the electrics from the rears handled the technique per the Energy screen and what kind of FE was possible from the RXh with them inside of the technique?

___Eric, keep my name in the hat for the next one for sure!

___Good Luck and I am glad to hear the MHG meet was another success.

Hi Wayne,

I was the 4th driver for the P&G "class" Eric organized. It was a pretty nice 2-mile segment, I think 1 stop sign and a turn-around in a parking lot. I drove Jan's prius and nailed a 91-MPG segment, but I already knew the technique. What I think was more impressive was Jan doing 72.6! I think she was at 48 for the 18-mile trip to the meeting, and she was eager to keep practicing.

I'm still laughing at the prius-prius-HUMMER-insight picture (mine's the one on the left). Thanks for a great meeting.

On a side note, I'm still fighting for the elusive 60. I had it once by calculated, but never by MFD. Currently very near the end of a tank at 57.5 (520 miles). I know P&G, tires at 42/40, speed limit or less.... I think at this point it is the short trips (less than 10 miles) that are keeping me away from 60.

Just slightly annoyed because at this rate it will take 10 more tanks to be a lifetime hypermiler (longer because of winter).

_Jerad

Jerad,
Glad you enjoyed the last meeting and I'm even more happy to hear that there was some post meeting fun as well.
I agree that the short trips are impeding your mileage. This makes your 57.5 that much more impressive. Keep trying. You can do it Jerad!
