I may be taking a trip up to Indianapolis around that time, if I'm up there I'd like to go, it's still kinda far (but a heck of a lot closer than FL), we'll probably want to go to Chicago too. I doubt we'd be taking my car though. It wouldn't do to well in the car show as it is now anyway, I need to get the hood fixed.
Hi Katie; hey, this would be a great excuse/motivation to get your hood fixed! It would be fantastic if you could plan on it, and make the drive. I am driving all the way from the Seattle area; between you & I we'd surely cross the USA. Sure hope it works out..........
Well I'm definitely going to get it fixed, since it was my mom's fault she's going to pay for it. If it had been my fault... eh, I would probably have to live with it. I just don't know when it'll get done, but it won't be before June.
IMAhybrid,
I just confirmed that a fellow Floridian, who happens to own one of the few turbo-powered Honda Insights is planning to drive up to Hybridfest.
Did you see the new Acura RDX compact luxury SUV unveiled at NYIAS today? It has a turbo 2.3L 4-cyl engine. Maybe all Hondas including Insights will come standard with a turbo someday?
We have confirmed that the mpg competition will need to be limited to the first 80 registrants, so if you want to compete, plan on registering today!
Although Hybridfest is free and open to the public, the special activities are available only for those who are registered attendees. Registration is $25.
Well, I've got some Hybridfest updates for everyone.
- Saturn confirmed that Hybridfest will be the very first time consumers will be able to test drive the new Saturn VUE Green Line. Two will be available after signing the appropriate waivers, etc.
- Hybridfest will have every hybrid car that is available on the market. The final hold out was the GS 450h. We just got word that Toyota is sending a 450h to have on display. Although you won't be able to test drive it (dang!) at least it will be there to "experience".
- So far people are coming from 15 different states plus Canada.
- Everyone who registers before the 12th is going to love the goodie bags. We have had some fun donations from great organizations.
- One thing you will keep hearing me repeat is that WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS! The day of the show, please consider taking an hour or two to help out making things run smoothly. I guarantee it will be interesting and FUN! The planners have spent literally hundreds of hours making this event a reality, but we can't be everywhere at the festival. Take a look at the volunteer description list and start thinking about how you might help. We'll ask for your commitment soon.

I'm really so pumped up about this thing.
It's very exiting to have the nations top street drivers there to mingle with, let alone the car/technology show!
At first I thought I couldn't attend...but where's a will there's a way and dog-gone I'm coming!
I've volunteered for this one: Talk to a Hybrid Owner (Owner of the Hour): Every hour there will be one owner designated as “Owner of the Hour” who is willing to answer any questions about their hybrid.
This is gonna be fun!
Efficient drivers do it better. 1003 miles a tank personal record. 74MPG calculated. HCH1 CVT

I think he picked the 12th because they need a few weeks to have some stuff made up based on the registration numbers.
Tom, You are exactly right.

Yes. Sign up this week. Stop torturing me!
Today was the big day where we rolled the dice and placed orders for T-Shirts, Goodie bags, etc. It's a challenge to order the right amount when we have no previous years to base attendance.

Register for Hybridfest by July 12th to gain access to all of these special activities and benefits available only to Registered Attendees.
- Entry into the MPG competition (limit 60 entrants)
- Access to indoor technical hybrid presentations
- Hybrid car show entry
- Awards
- Discounted hotel rate
- Free Hybridfest t-shirt
- Free Hybridfest goodie bag
- Special discounted price for Dane County Fair Tickets
- Ice cream social for registrants who arrive Friday evening
If you wait until after the 12th, first off, you'll give me an ulcer from all my worrying about trying to get 100 hybrids on the Hybridfest grounds. (We need to meet this goal!) More importantly, there is a good chance that some things, like the free t-shirts, goodie bags, etc won't be available. Also we may not be able to get you in for the dinner, in which case, you're on your own.
So, be sure to register before the 12th. Better yet...register right now.
