I was motivated by this post to add my car here and to the
www.fueleconomy.gov site as well. I should say that prior to selling my house and moving close enough to walk to work, I would consistently get about 46.9 (computer calculated), and sometimes a bit lower. I had a house close enough to my office that I would sometimes bike, but in Dallas often it was just too hot for that.
Now that I no longer make that short commute, I've been beating the 48 mpg average economy on this site, so I figured I'd start contributing. In a way this is kind of cheating, but since I had such an atypical commute before, I didn't want to add my car. But as I think about it, now that I walk, I have a rather atypical commute as well. Anyway, off to
www.fueleconomy.gov website.
As I read about people saying the numbers are really low there, I wonder if people are purposely making stuff up and putting them there. There should be a verification requirement or something.
