It just got real simple here too. As I told Lakedude some months ago, my fiance' returned from Europe last Sunday. Now she is driving my HCH "EcoCar" and my hypermiling days are largely over. I had the current tank up to 67.3 mpg and about 750 miles. She has it down to 65.4 at 803 miles.

I'm in med school (M-II, second year), and I can't do math to save my life. Hence my silence earlier in this post when I was dumbfounded by Barlow's Quandary.

Hi RJ:

___Lets do some math

750 miles at 67.3 miles/gallon = 11.14 gallons
803 miles at 65.4 miles/gallon = 12.28 gallons

___She drove 53 miles on (12.28 – 11.14) gallons or 53 miles/ 1.14 gallons = 46.5 mpg. Ouch is right!

___Good Luck

___Wayne R. Gerdes

Lee's Hill? Sure that is near. As a matter of fact the Lee's Hill Property Owners Association has been a big client of mine for several years.

I can assure you that there are LOTS of math-challenged doctors.

My graduate degree is in biostatistics. Lots of doctors pursue Master's of Publi Health at some point in their careers, and at the school I attended, every miles per hour degree required at least one course in biostatistics -- I was a teaching assistant for several basic classes and I tutored on the side. Many doctors I know struggled in those classes.
