There is no doubt the the planet is a bit warmer, and polar ice is melting.
So What!? BFD! The planet goes through these NATURAL cycles WITHOUT human input. In the days of the Dinosaurs, the earth was 2.5 degrees warmer, and there were no humans burning fossil fuels. Anyone ever hear of ICE AGES? Does anyone think we'd be better off with glaciers down to Texas? Where are we going to grow food then?

I say, warmer, the better. Wyoming and South Dakota used to be tropical paradises, long before humans took over the earth. Anyone see Wyoming lately?

Pollution = bad.
Global warming = not bad.

Carbon Dioxide is 0.04% of the atmosphere. Go ahead.... double that amount ( jeepers creepers! ) which is actually impossible, and we'll all end up living with 0.08% carbon dioxide. Wow. Not very impressive.

And one very real possibility is, more CO2 = more clouds = cooler temperatures at the surface of the Earth. The earth is a living thing. It's very good at compensating, and self-regulating. I used to be worried. Then I studied up on the subject. No longer worried.

There are a number of logical inconsistences here:
This is better than the warming deniers of a couple of years ago who used to 'cherry pick' data to prove there was no global warming. A local university professor used the Huntsville Airport temperature data while neglecting to point out the airport relocated from S. Huntsville, a heat island, to the cotton fields six miles out of town.

The carbon being released comes from the 'Dinosaurs' and what they ate. It is the organic material that was captured into large coal, oil and some gas reserves. We are simply releasing what had previsouly been stored.

Ice age is not the issue.

A mountain range grew and started squeezing out the water.

Actually it doesn't matter since the experiment is in full swing. Folks living in low lying areas, a significant part of the world's human population, have a problem. They may find their property titles 'under water.'

Speaking as someone whose city will be underwater if the ice caps melt, I really would not wish to move to Wyoming.

For the record, I voted for Bush (with increased misgivings - I'd prefer right of center, which some of his supporters would chararterize as "socialist" {sigh}....)

I just don't care for the polarizing of American poltics with either party. Lay down the hard line at the expense of truth. I could mention other issues (and generate flame wars), but I tire of hearing a political point of view that conviently ignores things such as the mounting evidence of Global Warming. I would like to believe the statistics are as Benjamin Disraeli once said, worse than a lie, but winters are warmer in Dallas. It used to snow and stay on the ground two winters out of three - it might be one out of four now.

For decades, it was convient to ignore the weak levees in New Orleans. I suspect a similar pattern regarding the Earth's warming....

Well, as someone sitting somewhere between Liberal and Socialist, I'd have to agree with you about the polarization.

I long for the days when people on both sides of the aisle made an effort to know what's going on and could actually discuss things like civilized adults with a difference of opinion.

My born-again-Christian cousin cussed me out and told me that I wish Saddam was still in power when I said I thought that getting incensed about the upside-down flag at the immigration protest in California was counterproductive. (I think that means I won the argument.)
