Okay, ya'll. I think you're going to scare away all the relatively sane visitors who come here. They're gonna think this site has lots of looney economy freaks like you

Don't worry, in my case it's just a game.
90 Humid degreese here in Hot_Georgia is really steamy!
Ever thought of a Bio-suit with cool water circulating throuth?

Wayne,
Swamp Coolers are still used in Southern AZ, because of the dryness. They add moisture to the air and cool it.
Believe it or not, some classic VW owners use a version of a swamp cooler for their older VWs to cool them in the hot summers in AZ.

I have been following this thread, thank you all for all the fun reading!
What do you think of connecting this to the A/C system?
It has some kind of phase change material in it that can stabilize the temperature. Couldn't this be used for cars? If you have cool nights, this thing would store the coolness to be used during the day. Here's the link to the specs:

But for the Insight hypermilers, I suggest ordering this vest from the same company (will be used by the Swedish olympic team in hot Athens):

I've researched ths Swamp water cooler.
Am I wrong in this but it seems to work almost exactly as our home belt type humidifier that we use in the winter. (Only in my case the belt is dipped & raised in the stationary water)
I'm not sure of it's efficiency given the +90% Georgia humidity.
Any thoughts?

Wayne and Steve,
It may not work for the evaporation part, but if used as a cooler and ice it should reduce, atleast in part, the inside temp of the car. I've found a nice passthrough in the rear deck of the corolla that requires no cutting, so I should be able to hook up a prototype in the next few weeks (running of the cars 12v system)
Cheers,
Steven
