Default Personal Best Tank (157% of EPA) !!!

I just wanted to celebrate a record tank with the only people on the internet that would understand. I drive an '06 Mustang GT (5 speed) so most Mustang owners wouldn't understand.

You see,,, I love the hypermiling game. The car is only rated for 17 MPG city and most GT owners get mid-teens in the city but my last tank was 26.7 MPG,, straight city (no highway). I eeked out just over 400 miles on the tank when I can only usually get ~320 with mild hypermiling. But this last tank I put in a little extra effort.

The techniques I used were all the standard non-hybrid tricks:
No AC, windows up, driving at posted speed limit, lots of neutral coasting ICE off, ICE off at lights, timing every light on the commute perfectly, tires at max PSI, driving w/o brakes, gradual acceleration, giving large gaps to the crazies in front of me, ridge riding on a couple rainy days, no interior heat until engine was fully warm, and most importantly NO burnouts. That last part was the hardest.

I think the next tank is going to include some more spirited driving, but it is fun to throw a killer tank in my log every once in a while.

Congratulations, but what is a burnout?

Need fewer troops to support.
Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

There is another group who would appreciate it:

They award titles for exceptional mileage and no doubt would appreciate reading about your accomplishment.

A burnout is traditionally used to heat drag racing slicks before a race. However, it is also equally fun to do when you're not racing. However,, it does kill your FE.

Here's an example of a burnout.
