Hi everyone:

I too am new to this great source of info. I have enjoyed reading the posts and learning about hybrids and driving techniques.

My name is Don Church and live near Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I will soon own a 2005 Insight (has been on order since Jan. 5).
Currently I drive a '98 Dodge Dakota with the 3.9 V6. Just using the tips from the list, I've gained a couple mpg's.

Can't wait to get the Insight. Should be able to pick it up this weekend.

Don

hawkGT647,
A fellow Insight owner! Welcome, welcome. What color Insight did you choose? Manual or CVT? I'll be looking for your purchase in the Honda's sales statistics. (Only 7 total were sold in January 2005.)
You will love the Insight.
I'm curious to hear why you switched from a truck to a car. Do you have another truck to replace the current one? And if you don't, won't your friends be upset that they can't call you up to haul their stuff anymore!

Welcome and glad to have you! I really do wonder how people hear of the Insight anymore the first place, as there are practically any sales and zero advertisements. I have a friend in the New Orleans/Baton Rouge area. She went to the movies in Baton Rouge this past weekend, I think. Anywho, look forward to knowing you!

Hi Ericbecky,

I'm really excited about getting an Insight.

The color choice wasn't mine to make, it was the only car coming into the three state area. These cars are hard to come across. Found one other local used Insight, but it was a CVT. I really wanted a stick.

So, it'll be a silver 5 speed with A/C (gotta have A/C, even it hurts gas mileage. Hot, sticky, humid summers!).

Test drove a new Prius, was impressed. But had to go with the Honda.

And I'll see if I can live without a truck. My sister-in-law will miss it, she always has projects that need a truck.
My wife drives an Acura TL, and we'll have the Insight. Might buy a small utility trailer to use with the TL, have to see how it all works out.

I'll be taking the Insight on a four hour trip as soon as I leave the dealer, hope I can start learning to maximize FE.
