Default I've got the fever...

...the fever to maximize my MPG!

This forum is excellent! While I don't own a hybrid - I've learned a lot of tips/tricks to bump the FE on my '05 Honda Civic value package coupe.

Before I stumbled onto this board, I managed to average just over 39MPG with my new car. Since discovering this board I've:

  • purchased an air compressor and a quality tire pressure gauge to make sure the tires are set where I want them (40psi at the moment, still experimenting)<
  • purchased a ScanGauge (the value package coupe does not have a tach, and I wanted the realtime MPG readouts)<
  • began coasting/putting in neutral whenever possible <
Today I managed to park at the entrance to our local shopping center and walk to each individual store (rather than drive the 0.5 miles or less to each one).

.

lindermant,
Congratulations on the additional mpg and welcome to GreenHybrid.

We've done more walking/biking as a result of being more gas consumption concious as well.

Keep up the good work!

Well, heck... you say you got just over 39mpg *before* you visited this site and started applying the lessons taught here. What about *after*? I'll bet you're beating a healthy chunk of HCH owners here!
