Default My first Hybrid (TCH)

Well my wife and I have had 2 Lancers for over 4 years now. She wanted a new car and I told her it had to get 30MPG or better. I don't how serious we were at getting a new car but one day I was driving around and desided to go check out the Toyota dealership, 6 hours later I drove out with a new TCH.

I love it, all but the Sirius Sat trouble I am having

I live in Florida and have the AC cranked most the time so MPG may be low but seems to be around 31. Best AC unit I have ever had in a car .

Congratulations
You probably are, but make sure you are using the ECO mode for the A/C - makes quite a difference.

No, I didn't have it on but I will give it a try. Florida is hot and humid so the first thing I do is crank the AC. I like to freeze so my AC has always been on LO and on full blast till icicles form on my nose.

Cohort, congratulations and welcome to the board. I noticed your posts showing up today. Give ECO mode a try and keep it off of LO as that will turn ECO mode off. I know ECO sounds like it's wimpy, but it works great. My mom lives in Florida and we've had hotter weather than her at times, including 100+ degree days (and it's a wet heat here too). The A/C's always been up to the task.

.

Just wondering what a good setting is for ECO? I'd like to bump up my MPG but also stay cold.

Right now I get 31MPG

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I just leave ECO mode on. When I first get going I set the temp to about 74. That causes the A/C to crank on a hot day. After running a few minutes the cabin hasn't cooled down that much, but the A/C is blowing frigid air right on me so I wind up raising the temp to about 78. As the cabin cools down the fan setting automatically lowers and then I find myself gradually lowering the temp to a comfortable level.

I know it sounds like a bit of effort, but it's no different than a manual A/C unit. You start off cranking the A/C and adjust it as the car gets cooler.
