Thanks! My previous vehicle was a 1994 Integra GSR that I bought all the way back in 1998. When I bought it, there were 33K miles on the odometer. When I traded it, there were 140,233 miles on the odometer, so it certainly did a nice job for me. My average mpg in that car was between 27 and 32, depending on how much of a leadfoot I was. I will definately miss that car, and to be honest, I really think it would have made it to 200K with no problems.
While i'm not expecting to improve my mpg numbers with the Escape, I love the hybrid technology and decided that it was time for something with some more room and a better view of the road. If I was going to break down and buy an SUV, it absolutely had to be a hybrid. I'm generally very anti-SUV.
In any event, I very happy with the Escape. It seems to have plenty of power for a vehicle its size, and its fun to drive. I drove home from the dealership last night (mix of hills and stoplights) and to work this morning (1/2 hills and stoplights and 1/2 highway driving) and my ave. MPG according to the computer is 26.6. So, not too shabby for a recovering lead foot.
