Hello. I'm Garrett and I'm in Eugene, OR. I've had my HCH for about a month now and love it! My first tank averaged 47.7MPG. I'm having a great time learning how to drive it efficently and look forward to improving over time. I've been reading these posts for awhile and am happy to now join in. Thanks for all the great info!

Garrett

Welcome to the world of Hybrids. It should take just a small amount of time to learn how to drive it better. It will take time for the engine to break in. You should see better milage agound 5000 miles. Did you get a CVT or 5 speed?

Garrett,
Welcome aboard!
47.7 is good for your first tank. Heck, your above the average of the HCH's in the mileage database.
Congrats!

Hi Gar1138:

___Welcome and congrats. If you have the time, read, read some more, and read some more beyond that about how to maximize your HCH’s fuel saving capabilities … With your start, the 48 mpg average over a minimum of 5 tanks will bring you into the Hypermilers list very quickly and you do indeed have a great start so far!

___Good Luck

Sorry for the late welcome Garrett and I'm glad to see you make it.
I've had my 04 HCH since late January and have logged almost 15,000 miles and still fascinated almost every time I drive.

Have you done any mods to your car? (tire pressure adjustments etc)

.

Efficient drivers do it better.
1003 miles a tank personal record. 74MPG calculated. HCH1 CVT
