Default 12V power ( ever turns off ?) FEH 2008

Hello all,

As alway, I have a question ( electic one ) I bought external GPS that charges using 12V outlet. I turned off the car while the GPS was pluged to 12V plug and ...... and GPS was still charging. When the 12V outlet stops charging ? Will it kill my battery ? Please help

thanks you all
btw I've checked the manual and I couldn't find any info

There are some outlets that do not provide power from the 12V system after key-off, but the one on the '05 FEH console will continue to drain and provide power from the 12V system. The HV battery provides no power if the key is off, so it will not drain.

Do you have two 12v outlets?
My car came with one by the shifter, that is on 100% of the time, and one on the dash by the vents that is only on when the key is on.

I like this! Now I have options for when to charge!

No key, or key to ACC means the 12v battery will power things.
With the key to run ( car started or not ) the 330v battery will power things for as long as possible by stepping 330v down to 14v.
When the 330v battery reaches a low enough level ( probably 35% ) it cuts off, and only the 12v battery will run things if for some reason you leave the key in "run" with engine off for a really long time. -John

We have a PT Cruiser that has two outlets, the covers on each show a battery (for always on) and a key (for ignition on).

The 08's have 2. 1 in dash (plus 110V outlet), and one in the rear console. Not sure if either is switched. I know the dash is always on.

I have a 2008 MMH and I have determined that both 12V outlets are powered at all times - a condition which I prefer.

You might check to make sure one does not shut down after 15 min. This is possible and is done in other Ford vehicles that use the GEM or Smart Junction Box. I don't have the 08 wiring diagrams yet as Ford will not release them until next March.
