Bumper-to-bumper is 36months/36,000 miles.

Powertrain is 5years/60,000 miles.

Some hybrid-only parts are covered for 8years/100,000 miles (or in CA emission states 10years/150,000 miles).

 

I, too, bought the premium care warranty and called Ford about it yesterday. My 07 (purchased at the end of July) is covered by the new drivetrain warranty, and my premium care warranty covers everything (not just the drivetrain) for 5yr, 60k miles.

Bottom line, we got jobbed for buying the extra warranty thinking we only had a 3/30 warranty. The premium care does cover basically everything, so I feel okay about that. I just decided to focus on all the things the premium care still covers versus the excess coverage on the drive train that I purchased.

Oh well, they're car dealers. What do you expect?

What makes this a raw deal is that they probably aren't reducing the cost of the ESP warranty and will probably sell just as many of them since they will emphasize that the "new 5/50" is drivetrain only. You wouldn't want to be without coverage on all the fancy electronics and other bells and whistles....

In other words, you are buying coverage that they are giving you now anyway.

The more I think about it, the more it sounds like just a gimmick to try to sell more cars.

I have a new 2006 MMH.

In reviewing the recently announced longer warranties, I notice that it appears that only Ford (and not Mercury) is including the 2006 models. That’s a drag. Why would they not include Mercury?

For your enjoyment, I have included the “small print” from both websites (Ford and Mercury). Am I imagining things?

Ford: See your Dealer for limited-warranty details. Includes 2006 and 2007 model year Ford products regardless of the launch date. 2007 model year Focus coverage will be greater. 2007 model year E-Series and F-Series (up to F-550) diesel engine warranty coverage is 5 years/100,000 miles. Unique hybrid components have 8-year/100,000-mile limited-warranty coverage. A 2006 Model Year Ford vehicle sold on or after July 14, 2006 will be covered by a complimentary 5year/60,000 Mile Ford ESP PowertrainCARE extended service contract with a $100 deductible. For 2007 Model Year Ford products the warranty is fully transferable with no deductible.

Mercury: **See your Dealer for limited-warranty details. Includes all 2007 model year Mercury products regardless of launch date. Unique hybrid components have 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty coverage. Warranty is fully transferable. No deductible.

I am pretty sure that the 2006 Mercury models, sold on or after July 14, 2006, are included. 2007 Mercury models are included regardless of their launch date (date of sale).

While your quote from the Mercury website is correct, I read it differently than you. The reason is that the Mercury website is still back on the 2006 models. Anything written on the website, is applicable to those 2006 models.

Above the quote you got off their website, it is also written, "Extending your peace of mind. All new Mercury vehicles now come with a longer 5-Year/60,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty." Again, remember, this is referring to their 2006 models.
