Default Bait and Switch?

FordVehicles.com has a pane on their FEH page that states 0% financing for up to 60 months is available. Two different dealers, on the other hand, say no, it's for only up to 36 months. Anyone else run into this?

Trying to call a standard Ford phone number to get to the bottom of it is a futile effort, so far. Does anyone have any pointers on where to take this?

Robert

I bought mine in early April and got 0% financing for 60 months. I suspect that those dealers don't want to kick in their contributions to offset the lost finance revenue.

Why don't you print out the page from the Ford website and bring it to the dealership. It is amazing what the sales people don't know about their own merchandise. When I bought my 2006 FEH, the saleperson didn't even know about the $2,600 federal tax credit. You would think that someone trying to sell you a car would really want to let the customer know that they can get a $2,600 federal tax credit. Let us know what they say/do.

Well, this is not simply a case of the salesman not knowing. His computer system only shows 0% for 3 years. I've called several dealers in the area and so far they have all said the same thing.

Someone at Ford Credit told me an interesting story (not sure if it's true) that not all dealers are able to participate in all programs and terms and that some are excluded because they have not sent enough business to Ford Credit. This may be something he made up, but it's the only explanation that makes any sense at the moment.

Where are you located? I can't find any dealer in my area who says they can do a 60 month deal.

I was offered the 0%/60 for my 06-FEH on the spot as well. I always thought offers like this were introduced to encourage buyers to come out to the dealership to see what their credit rating was. And at the same time, the dealership can get some more customers in...

Simply put, if you qualify?

Well, I finally got an answer that explains it all and it sucks for me. The following site shows what special offers are available:

www.fordvehicles.com/incentives/offers/
The key is that offers are based on zip code and 78726 does not offer 0% for 5 years. 06111 (CT) does however. So Ford is relatively speaking sticking it to me and passing on the finance savings onto the other guys.

Based on where the dealer is or your address. If its the dealer, maybe a road trip to one of the lucky areas is in order.

I agree that everyone should get the deal though. Doing it their way is only bound to cause people to feel cheated.
