Default Cargo Door Dirt

I am constantly cleaning the rear window (actually, most of the cargo door), as it seems that my escape is like a road vacuum cleaner. There must be a lot of vorticies, and this pressure decrease allows the road dirt to be "sucked up" and then cover the rear of the car.

Is there a way to prevent this? (Ya, I know, live in a totally rainless place!) Does Ford offer a spoiler?

Also, this would indicate to me that there is lots of air drag. If the flow profile were improved, the escape would get much better road mileage.

I get the dirt too and it rains here all the time.....Ford does offer a spolier, which claims to help keep the rear window clear, but I have not seen any proof of that. Defelct-a-sheild makes one too. Search on E-bay for Escape and Spoiler and you should get some hits.

I live on a dirt road and a lot of mine comes off our big tires. Some have found that at least rear flaps help to hold down the spew.

Hmm. I'd be interested if anyone knows about air drag. Will adding a spoiler reduce air drag and give better FE?
