Default cargo organizers?

We own a new 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid and we're getting tired of stuff sliding around in the back. The 2007 Ford Escape/Escape Hybrid Accessories catalog lists some ideas:

Rear Cargo Net: Doesn't look that great. "Not available on Escape Hybrid."

Interior Cargo Organizer: I like the adjustable dividers, but I'm not sure if our stuff would fit or not. "Not available on Escape Hybrid."

Cargo-Logic: I really like the idea of putting Velcro holders anywhere you want. "Not available on Escape Hybrid."

So nothing is available from Ford, but at least we have some ideas. What kind of cargo organizers do people use in their Escape Hybrids? What works and doesn't work?

Thanks,
Lloyd

I have the husky liners and they definitely reduce the sliding around part. For organization I bought a bunch of cheapo plastic containers from the local wholesale club. I can fit 3 in the back nicely or I just grab whichever one I need and leave the rest at the house. Beats having everything thrown in there in a pile anyway.

A box. Cut the tops off for easy access. It hasn't slid around at all for me. It even holds my spotting scope tripod against the quarter panel and keeps it from moving.

The problem with the rear of the hybrid is the battery. All you have is that flimsy carpet back there so there are no mounting rings or anything for the Cargo-logic pieces to attach to. I think trying to find a large plastic tub/box like a Rubbermaid under-your-bed clothes storage bin might be a good solution.

I keep two plastic milk cartons in the back. The "X" bottom extrusions keep them from sliding around. I will be getting a Husky Cargo Liner soon and will probably glue rubber on the bottom of the cartons.

While we're on the subject of cargo...

What are those 3 attachment points on the inside headliner near the lift gate for? I have not figured that out yet. They swivel but don't seem strong for anything.

They're anchor points for child safety seat tether straps.

Oh!

Guess when the kids are 20 and 23 you tend not to keep up on that stuff.

I only know because I stumbled across it when I was reading my owners manual. Browsing through it may actually be a more appropriate choice of words...but it's still surprising what can you learn by even doing that.

I don't have any dividers or baskets or such for cargo organization -- haven't seen the need for those, just yet -- but I do have Husky floor liners for my cargo area and front and rear seating areas. The liners do a good job of keeping most things from sliding around too much in the cargo area, thanks to the diamond pattern molded into it (like metal step bumpers, etc. have).

The anchor points are for LATCH-compatible child safety seats. I read that part of the manual even before I knew we were expecting a wee one, but then again I'm a geek and I had a PDF of the manual I was perusing long before I ever bought the car.

GG...count me in there with you on the geek mode because I don't have an escape yet either but I have the pdf manual and read it.
