Default Chirping sound in Escape '08

Hi, I found a thread talking about a chirping sound coming from the dashboard of an Escape '09. This was dated in 2011. Was this ever solved? I have an '08 Escape Hybrid and have just starting getting this chirping sound. (Husband says I have a cricket in my dashboard). I would like some info before taking in to shop.

I had a similar noise that was traced to the instrument cluster pod not being fully seated in the dash for some reason. Try to lift it up and reseat it.
Might also help if we knew the location of the noise since the dash is rather large. Might it be the A/C vent actuators too?

Thanks, that will give me a starting point. I have tried to pinpoint the exact location but with no luck.

If you do an Internet search for "ford" "escape" "cricket" or "chirping" noise, you'll find a large number of results pointing to a blend door actuator. There are four of these in the dashboard, and this is an extremely common problem. I've had to do one on mine.

(Two of these modules are easy to get at, one moderately difficult, and one is very difficult. There's a shortcut for the last one that entails cutting a temporary hole in the plastic heater wall.)

These modules are pretty cheap, and you'll eventually need one anyway, so get a new one and start swapping them out to see which one makes the noise go away.

These actuators also make a clicking noise that's not nearly as annoying.

4 actuators? Everything I've seen had 2 in the dash. Do you have documentation on all 4?

Here are good links to PDFs showing what I thought were the only 2...

The service manual for my '09 shows four of these things, but the dual-zone climate control probably requires one of those four. Two of them are easily accessible from under the dash, one on each side of the console.
