Default Cold start rattle

I have developed a cold start rattle in my FEH. The longer the car sits the lounder and longer the noise lasts. I have not narrowed down the source, but it is clearly under the hood and not related to the A/C compressor.

Has anybody had any similar noises?

Thanks.

No idea, and that's just not right.

Just a silly suggestion, but have you tried taking the "suitcase" engine cover off and put it back on? It may have come loose and that's what's rattling.

I think I was slightly unclear....I will check the engine cover though.....

The rattle goes away once the engine runs for 10 secs or so, if run the night before and 2 minutes, if it sits for more than 48 hours.

My gut is telling me it is something rattling when the engine is "dry" and once oil pressure builds up it goes away.
