How do you know your RPM? Does yours have a tach?

I didn't know that "B" increased the regen. The manual implies that it doesn't.
More than enough juice to fully-charge the battery on these hills even on "D",
and I hardly ever need A/C.

Does going into and out of "B" actually reduce fuel consumption? I figured it didn't
burn much on a downhill in any case.

gpsman1 drives an Escape Hybrid which has a tach. The prius does not have one?

No tach in the Prius. It's not available, even on the "Touring" model.

Oh, right. I know about Low on the Escape, but I hardly ever use the A/C around here.
If I were out driving today I'd need the heater. (It's only 50 degrees here now that the
fog and drizzle have suddenly returned).

The Prius has no visible tach. I'm sure it has one that feeds into the onboard computer,
but it doesn't share that information with the end-user.

I keep trying to do the pulse-and-glide thing in the flats, there must be some trick to it that
I still don't get because it doesn't seem to make any difference at all.

My hats off to anyone with the dexterity to coax 37 mpg out of an Escape Hybrid,
especially in the mountains! Only time I ever saw that kind of mileage was on
a slight downgrade drafting behind trucks.

There are people who get that 37 number... I don't, not patient/skilled enough to put the effort in it... I can get 35MPG on flat terrain at about 50MPH though.

YOu should be able to put a scanguage in a Prius if you really want that TACH info you know!
