I had mine done a few months ago. I thought the eCVT was making more noise than it should. It was quiet until it warmed up, and then makes an audible, um, how to describe it? Like gears going around - which is what it does. A 2010 FEH with half the mileage belonging to a friend does not make this noise.

I bought the thing used with about 65,000 miles on it. So I had the eCVT fluid changed. This had no effect on the noise and it works exactly the same as it did prior to the service. Which is just fine.

I've had it with you, give us a page and quote in any Ford maintenance manual that calls for a change interval in the eCVT fluid in then FEH in any year? The '09 came with a new lifetime ATF that can't even be used in the earlier FEH which is lifetime also. You do not know what you're talking about and give ill advise to FEH owners! Stop your BS!

Thanks for your tactful correction.

I went and got the manual, and I was looking at the maintenance schedule in the Customer Information Guide Ford provided for all Escapes, not the additional Owner's Guide provided with the Hybrid. The latter does indeed say, as you said, that the eCVT is "designed to be filled for life" and there are no services listed in the maintenance schedule. It does say you should check it if you find any leakage.

I'll edit my earlier post just so no one is led astray.

Yes Rich, this is my first, however I've had it since 2009 and it's always worked normal. Before as you press the accelerator, the engine would speed up and the RPM's would increase then the RPM's would decrease after I reach a certain speed. Now as I increase in speed the RPM's increase and never shift back down. Maybe downshift was the wrong word, but it should work like it is.

The only time I've seen this sort of behavior is when the external temperature is above 96 degrees and the A/C is on. In these conditions the engine will not go below 2K RPM, for some unknown programming reason. If the A/C is off the RPMs will go down appropriately.

I'm in a 2008 as well, I'm not sure if the 2009 and later also exhibit this behavior.

i just changed mine, its has 222000 miles on it, it feels smoother id say, but then again its my wifes truck so im not used to it.
