Question Disable Auto Lock Feature?

Hello all. Love the site. Thanks to all those that contribute.

I've done some searching on the site but did not find a thread on the auto lock feature. In case I'm not referring to it correctly I'm talking about the doors locking once you start driving. I'm cool with that, I'm not cool with the fact that they don't unlock later. Just this evening I got out of the car and went to open the hatch and had to hit the unlock button to get in. I just drove a rental car last week that unlocked the doors when it was placed in park.

Does anyone know if there are any options for this feature including turning it off?

Thank you.

Look in the manual, it tells how to disable this highly annoying "feature".

I disabled it the first day I had my truck as it was irritating the hell out of me, but I don't remember the exact procedure out of my head.

I absolutely hate it when vehicles do things like this automatically, heck it's simple enough to click the door lock button if I decide I want the doors locked -I don't need the vehicle deciding to do it for me........

Deactivating/activating the autolock feature
The autolock feature can be activated or deactivated using the following
procedure:
Before starting, make sure that the ignition is in the 1 (LOCK) position
and all vehicle doors are closed.
You must complete Steps 1–5 within 30 seconds or the procedure will
have to be repeated.
1. Turn the ignition to the 3 (RUN) position.
2. Press the power door unlock control on the door panel three times.
3. Turn the ignition from the 3 (RUN) position to the 1 (LOCK) position.
4. Press the power door unlock control three times.
5. Turn the ignition from the 1 (LOCK) position to the 3 (RUN) position.
6. The horn will chirp once to confirm programming mode is
entered/active.
7. Press the power door unlock control on the door panel one time.
8. Press the power door lock control on the door panel one time. Note:
The horn will chirp once to confirm the feature is OFF, or the horn will
chirp and then honk to confirm the feature is ON.
9. Turn the ignition to the 1 (LOCK) position. Note: The horn will chirp
once to confirm the programming mode has been exited.
Repeat the previous procedure to turn the feature on or off.

Yea, I wish it had auto unlock too. And for the same reason, I realized how nice a complement it was to autolock, when I rented a car with auto unlock.

BTW, the 08's have auto unlock.

Thanks to John for pointing me to the manual. Who knew that thing would actually contain useful information. For others it's Page 111 in the '07 manual and exactly what Walt posted. I'm happier now. Thanks for the replies.

Ok I have done it three times following the directions to the tee and it still locks once I start rolling.
Anyone?

Did you get correct confirming horn sounds?

Sorry to say, but if it isn't working, you might not be following the directions exactly right; including the time limits. I know it took me a couple of tires since simply stopping to read the directions, can blow the time limit. Also, pay very close attention to when you need to press the unlock, and when you need to press the lock button, on the driver's door.

Like I said, I know it took me a couple of tries to get it right.

I got the correct horn sounds according to the manual, if the horn tells all then I got it right every time.
I will try it again and again because I would like it disabled, just to set me straight this stops the doors from locking once you put it in drive and roll forward.

Yep, that's it.

From the manual ...

Autolock (if equipped)
The autolock feature automatically locks all vehicle doors when:
• all doors are closed,
• the ignition is in the 3 (RUN) position,
• the brake has been released, and
• the vehicle has been set in motion.

Relock
This feature will also automatically relock all the doors when:
• the ignition is in the 3 (RUN) position and any door is opened then
closed, and
• you put the vehicle in motion by releasing the brake pedal.

Hmmm, strange it isn't disabling for me.
I will try again.
Thanks
