I have had my vehicle for about 2 years. I tried to get the awesome gas mileage I see other people get on the forums, but the instant torque with electric motors was just to fun. Beating most cars off the line . Regardless, with regular driving, I averaged 28/29 in the summer and 26/27 in the winter. Recently I have started driving it like a hybrid, (forcing EV mode), lots of coasting, etc.

That got my mileage up to 30 in town (semi-rual setting with streets of 45mph and some highway)

I am on a 400 mile trip and drove from Colorado Springs to Albuquerque yesturday morning. It took 45 minutes longer than usual, but I arrived at my destination with an average of 37.5 mpg! wow!
My driving consisted of mostly 65-70mph. Once I got to the mountains in Raton, and just north of Santa Fe, I got behind a semi truck going up hill with speeds of about 50. (hard for me to drive that slow)

After going through the pass, I resumed my 60-65mph with speeds up to 75mph down hill.

my 2006 has 91k miles and the origional MECS coolant pump. I did have to change some blend door near the large battery in the back under warranty, but other than that, I just change the oil every 5k (full synthetic) and air filter once per year regardless. I think I had Firestone change the oil last and they use Kendall.f

 

It's interesting how we turn from getting places faster to getting better mileage when we own hybrids. That's excellent mileage. More evidence that the claim by backward auto journalists that hybrids don't get good highway mileage is just rubbish.
