So what is the fix listed for your vehicle or doesn't it state that?

I just got my notice yesterday. Called the dealership and they said they don't yet have the parts/tools to complete the correction. They had no idea when they'd be ready. Guess I'll wait a couple weeks and call back.
Issue: blah blah, related to torque sensor.
To be done: blah blah update the appropriate modules to prevent loss of steering assist due to torque sensor fault. Alternatively, dealer may need to replace the torque sensor or the steering column.
Time: less than one-half day.

Indeed, Ford requires that these repairs not done by Ford, be inspected at a Ford dealership. That makes sense to me, since otherwise Ford could be on the hook for mistakes made by errors.

What doesn't make sense to me is that they say they couldn't do exactly that inspection on mine when I brought it in at their request for doing just that, because they didn't have full documentation for their own recall. Surely they already can tell if the repairs are done properly. If not, are they going to reinspect all the power steering failures they've already fixed?
I got my recall letter today.

It states that even if you paid for the repair that addresses the problem, you still need to have this recall performed to ensure that correct parts and procedures were used. There is also a software update that goes with this recall.

You'll be sad to hear that if your dealer finds no DTC's pertaining to the EPAS system and just performs the PCM flash if you have a failure after that, the repair will be at your cost.

Got my recall notice in the mail yesterday. Called up the dealership and i'm scheduled for next Thurs. Be interesting to see what they do since the steering column was replaced a few years back. The service adviser was pretty good though, told me that although the recall says half a day that they'll need it for the full day.

I guess we'll see what happens *shrug*

I didn't get a letter, but today I got a phone call from the Ford dealership to schedule another appointment. (I had mine repaired in January by an independent garage, but using Ford's advice and their replacement column.)

There has been many upgrades made to the EPAS. Regardless, no DTCs and you get the PCM only.

Here's a copy of the letter sent to dealers on what to do: RCMN-14V284-2543.pdf

Nice, thanks for that. I just called the dealership and am scheduled for 8/11. Will update on whether the column gets replaced, or if the PSCM just gets flashed.
