I have a 2007 FEH and have just filled it for the second time. I drove it till it said 50 miles to empty and then till it said low fuel. I figured it would take at least 14 or 15 gallons to fill it. I could only get 12 in it and that was pushing it till the gas spilled out some ( I know I am not supposed to do that, only 2 clicks). The gauge read full and said 407 miles to empty. Went home and next morning when I started it up it read 360 miles to empty. Whats going on here?

Just drove it another 4 miles and now the gauge reads 389 to empty. I guess it is just doing its thing adjusting to how I am driving.

Yes it is calibrating to your average MPG as you continue to get more miles it will stabilize.

After a few tanks, 0 Miles to Empty will be when your tank is within 1 to 1.5 gallons of actual empty - at least that is where it is on both of mine. Your car just doesn't have enough miles on it to be able to figure out how far you can go on the gas left in the tank.
