Default Gas mileage

Just bought 2006 Escape Hybrid with 109 000miles
The computer shows consumption of 7.7L per 100km but i used up 72 liters of gas to cover a mileage of 600km which is more than 10l per 100km
Computer check points show that everything is ok
Who can explain what is happening and should I sell this car asap or I can improve fuel economy
Thanks

"The computer shows consumption of 7.7L per 100km"

Is this from the Ford navigational/hybrid screen display and was this what was shown on the display when you bought it?

Where do you live? Where did you drive 600km-city/highway/off road? What was the temperatures? Was the airconditioning on? Where did you purchase the vehicle and was the title clean? Is the vehicle in good shape? What service work was done and are the filters clean? Gasoline grade and/or ethanol percent? Did you read the FAQ section here at this site?

In summary, we need more information.

.

2005 AWD Escape Hybrid
Best Interstate tank trip MPG 39.02 (scangauge II) for 402 miles on I-70, 10.3 gallons used over mostly flat terrain.

Best Interstate tank trip E30 MPG 34.6 for 271 miles along I-80 in Indiana and Ohio.

Best multiple road tank trip E30 MPG 36.2 for 202 miles in Southwestern Pa.

Default Re: Gas mileage

I live in Canada, Toronto.
Bought the vehicle at Pensylvania auto auction.
The condition of the vehicle is excellent.
It is two wheel drive. There is no navigation display - only on board computer display in the tachometer dial area. At the time of purchase it showed 7L per 100km. Mostly urban driving without heavy traffic and within this period of time about 200km of pure highway driving.
The filter is ok. Temperature outside was about 25 Celsium. Regular unleaded gas.A/C mostly on but in econo mode.
Thanks
