Now maybe there's a way to remove the bench portion completely, but from first inspection they seem to be securely attached.
Very easy to remove. The rods it hinges on slide in sideways to the mounts. There is a yellow tipped clip that locks one of them in place. Just lift this clip and slide the rods out of the mounts. Then you can even snap the rods back in place under the bench portion so they're not swinging around while it's unmounted.

Or even better, an a/c pump that doesn't run off the ICE. Granted an electric compressor would make the engine run more, it wouldn't have to run ALL the time the air conditioning is on.

Add this one to the list: A button that I could push to tell the hybrid system that I know that I'm about to stop, so it can shut the engine off until I accelerate again.

Our 2006 HiHy has an outdoor temperature gauge and a homelink button that can be set to work as the garage door opener. Both would be nice on the FEH. But on the flip side our FEH has speed sensitive volume control while our HiHy doesn't.

His and hers hybrids, it's a beautiful thing!

My gripes/wishes....

-I agree with the flimsy "cover" for the cargo area.
-I'd like a rear 12V outlet in the cargo area, though it is easy enough to add one yourself.
-I miss my outside temp gauge and homelink buttons too.
-Memory seats and a power passenger seat.
-Climate control + dual zone
-Adjustable heated seats that you can actually reach the controls for
-A Nav system that is from this millenium (not CD based).
-An audio system with MP3 and Sirius capability!!!
-Steering wheel audio controls
-Auto up driver and auto down/up passenger windows.
-A place to rest my left foot
-Auto on/off headlights
-One touch close sunroof
-More from EV mode!

Finally, how about putting in some reclining rear seats? I'm not asking for a La-Z-boy or anything, but how about a few inches of recline for those crammed in the back?

.
