K&N Oil Filter - GreenHybrid

For all of you K&N filter fans:
I just got an email from K&N informing me that they now have an oil filter available for 2005-2007 Ford Escape Hybrids (and Mariners). The part number is HP-7013.

Price from K&N online is $10.36.
( yes, 2 O-rings incl. )

K&N's are historically one of the highest flowing oil filters on the market.

I dont see the point of a K&N oil filter. You want the filter with the smallest holes, not the biggest. Flow rate will always remain constant because the pump power is always the same, and can easily overwhelm filter resistance. Pressure can vary with different brands because of filter resistance.

With air intakes, flow rate varies depending on filter restriction. Oil Filters are there to clean the oil and pose no further detriment. If you want a performance boost by reducing the resistance without compromising actual filtering ability, upsize the filter. If there is room in the chassis, ford filters commonly have the same interfaces.

I see they have an 08 oil filter as well, but no air filter, my brid whats to breather easier, haha

I have a K&N air filter but I fail to see the point of a K&N oil filter.

For our particular application I agree, for a twin turbo Z another story.

And flow rate is NOT constant for different oil filters. You would find a fairly significant difference in the flow rates of a K&N vs. a Purolator Pure One oil filter, for example.

When I made that statement, I was referring to an FEH application.
