I am looking to purge my system since I can feel the mecs pumping into the transaxle but I cant feel it cooming out of the transaxle and into the degas bottle. Please let me know if I am looking for the purge buttton at the wrong place.

Also any helpful input would be greatly appreciated.

i seem to be having alot of air bubbles in my degas bottle. i have purged the transaxle. but it still continues. i am thinking about changing the whole coolant system from the transaxle and the pump to finally remove any possible air pockets that are being made. if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone has any helpful input it would be greatly appreciated!!

The easiest way to change the MECS pump is to "clamp-off" the hoses and just change the pump. Then reattach the hoses. I'm not sure why the one would want to purge the system unless they had 5 years of usage on the coolant.

that's exactly how i changed mine, clamps off drain aprox 3 quarts of coolant clamps back on and refill degas bottle.the problems now is that im having a large amount of air bubbles forming in my degas bottle. also the coolant stopped circulating, i mentioned this to a mechanic and he believes that its due to the same air being in the system. please keep in mind i live in belize on the border with mexico so either place that i go to no one has the knowledge on hybrids. yesterday i purged the system as best i could, i left the pump running with the vehicle off, then on, then off again. great improvement but still getting some air in the degas bottle.

Some other misc parts.

The pump is physically much smaller than the pump taken out. Comes with an attached mounting plate.

If anything of interest occurs on putting it I'll follow up this post.

Inverter coolant pump failure is the #1 failure on the Gen2 Prius. I really doubt you came out ahead here. If you used one from an auto parts store, you definitely didn't come out ahead as they are complete junk.

You had a code for the MECS pump, but you didn't use the right tools. You needed Forscan.
