Default Moves forward with no gas pedal pressure

Just got back from the dealer having a look at 2006 Escape that moves forward without stepping on the gas. If you stop at a light, it drops into ev mode. If you remove your foot from the brake and do not touch the gas, the SUV moves forward at a rate of 2-3 miles per hour. Dangerous because of course this is done in the very quiet ev mode. The dealer could find nothing wrong and despite a download of a new setup prgram that has been released, the problem continues. The car also gets worse mileage in city driving then on the highway... Any ideas?

I would think that 2-3mph is a tad excessive. I estimate my 2005 FEH crawls at about 1-2km/h when I release the break pedal at a stop.

In the canadian literature, the fuel consumption specs indicated better economy in city driving then highway. This makes sense since the electric engine is used more often in city driving.

There are a lot of things that were done to make the FEH behave like a "normal" vehicle. It behaves just like a conventional vehicle with an automatic transmission when you are in gear and release the brakes at a stop. Engine braking is also simulated (with the added benefit of charging the battery). There is nothing wrong here.

If you do some more research here (and at other sites), you'll learn about the MPG sweet spot around 45-50mph, and how it all depends on what types of "city" and "highway" driving you're doing.
