I haven't owned a Ford in 10 years and after 700 miles my new FEH is headed to the shop. Now I know things happen and new cars can have problems but I have never owned a new car ever that has had to go in the shop at all more less after 700 miles.

It is a LOUD squeal/drag noise coming from the drivers side rear wheel (wife hung out of the back door while I was driving to find the source), doesn't increase or decrease when I brake but is extremely LOUD. Wife said she heard the wheel over 200 miles ago but forgot to tell me so tech it had problems at 450ish miles.
Oh and one of my rubber vibration tiddies for the hatch is missing, not a big deal but I hope it is not a sign of things to come.

I have the same sound - like a wheel bearing - and applying the brakes does not send it away - it usually happens in turns - and comes and goes- like something is rubbing against a wheel - steel to steel - its not there all the time, but when it is - its loud - like a wheel bearing - usually from the rear wheels - also - my Mariner - was missing rubber tits too - on the tail gate - and on some of the doors - 5 in fact - a small thing - but they have since been installed -

I had something like the sound you reported.

I found a mention of it here, and the suggestion of putting the parking brake 'on' quickly while the hybrid was in a slow forward motion. I did that, and the sound stopped immediately, and hasn't come back

possibly its a dragging parking break? I have had a similar sound when a dust shield was bent into the break disk on my wifes corolla.

Ford has published a servive procedure for this. It's special service mesaage 19121. It appears to be a very minor issue. Here's the text of the message for you - SOME 2005-2006 ESCAPE HYBRIDS BUILT FROM 8/2/2004 TO 11/21/2005 AND 2006 MARINERHYBRIDS BUILT FROM 10/1/2005 TO 11/21/2005 MAY EXHIBIT A SQUEAKING, SQUEALING ORGRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR BRAKES WHILE DRIVING. THIS CONDITION MAY BE DUE TO A MISADJUSTED PARKING BRAKE. IF THIS CONDITION IS PRESENT, CHECK THE AMOUNT OF THREAD PROTRUSION OF THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ADJUSTER AT THE PARK BRAKE LEVER. SET THE ADJUSTMENT SO THAT THERE IS 10MM, PLUS OR MINUS 1MM FOR VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 5/3/2005 AND 15MM PLUS OR MINUS 1MM FOR VEHICLES BUILT ON 5/3/2005 OR AFTER. IF THIS CONDITION PERSISTS AFTER ADJUSTMENT IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO CLEAN THE PARK BRAKE DRUM AND SHOES OF EXCESSIVE LINING BUILD-UP.

Very interesting, I can/will try the parking brake to see what happens. I notice it most when we are coasting (in gear), not sure how or why the parking brake would affect it if pushing the brake doesn't but who knows.

The parking brake is a small drum brake, not connected to the rear hydraulic brakes. Using the brake pedal only acutates the hydraulics, engaging the front and rear calipers if regen can't supply enough stopping power.

My FEH parking brake gets "squeaky" after a while, making a noise anytime I get in or out when the parking brake is set. It sounds like a squeaky suspension, but is really the parking brake. I find it helps to do an occasional low speed stop with the parking brake. By low speed I mean stopping from about 10mph using the parking brake.

Ah now that makes since, wondered how the brake worked with rear disc's and now I know.
